Checking stores in your colonies

Happy New Year.

As the winter has been very mild, thus far at least, please check the stores left in your hives as the bees have been active, and active bees use up their stores far more quickly than a clustered colony.
A slab of fondant will provide for the colony’s needs, please see the winter edition of “Combings” for details of where to get this and what to do with it once you have it!
If in doubt, ask an experienced beekeeper.

The oxalic acid demo at Murton is usually held in early January but the weather has impacted on this too, Alan is waiting for a cold spell which will stop brood production. The demo date will be notified via email to all members

Kind regards
