Our Story

The York & District Beekeepers is a friendly and active Association (registered charity number 1177037) for people who share a common interest in learning about and caring for bees.

Our website is designed to keep its Members informed of activities and to provide a source of information for those interested in beekeeping.

With over 170 registered beekeepers, York & District is one of the largest Beekeeping Associations in the Yorkshire area.

Wherever you live, keeping your own bees is very exciting and rewarding experience so why not learn to become a beekeeper?

Beekeeping also provides a never-ending source of enjoyment and interest to an increasing number of people of all ages and gender whatever the motive and our Association exists to promote and advance the craft of beekeeping.

Beekeeping is a fascinating and absorbing hobby but there can be problems for the beginner but by joining a local beekeeping association you will have the opportunity to meet other beekeepers and gain from their experience

Now that you’ve found our website, why not contact us to find out more – you’ll be made very welcome!

What we do

We are a charity offering information to the general public about honeybees, pollinators in general and the craft of beekeeping. We provide training and education to people wanting to start keeping bees, and ongoing support and information sharing for beekeepers of all levels of experience through an annual programme of events.
